Biggest primary MAT among latest DfE academy warnings

Two high-profile multi-academy trusts were among those to receive the latest batch of Department for Education termination warning notices, published today.

They include England’s biggest primary MAT, REAch2 Academy Trust, which has been warned in relation to Sprites Primary Academy, in Suffolk.

Problems identified by Ofsted inspectors include that too many pupils at the primary  “behave poorly” and that pupils “do not achieve well enough at the end of key stages 1 and 2”.

The warning means that the funding agreement of the academy may be terminated by the secretary of state unless improvements are made.
