Leeds schools accused of ‘off rolling’ struggling pupils to boost exam results

An academies trust which runs several schools in Leeds has been accused of “off rolling” low-achieving pupils to another school to “falsely inflate” exam results.

Cllr Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for education, says there are “serious concerns” that GORSE Academies Trust has been implementing plans to off roll pupils, which were outlined in a “deeply disturbing” document published three years ago.

The internal document, leaked to Tes, says the overall Progress 8 score of an academy could be boosted by the “removal of anchor students” who have “not been able to achieve consistently”
