Tech City teachers aspire to more

ASPIRATIONS

Teachers at Tech City College, an academy and ‘free’ school in Islington, London are on their second day of action. The dispute, taken after a teacher collapsed, is against excessive workload and observation. Teachers are still being graded in these observations and report that previously highly graded staff have been given lower marks. A pupil remarked that all the teachers want from management is respect.

The NUT union has a meeting with management on Friday but if the dispute is not resolved than there will be a further three days of strike action on Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16, and Thursday 17 of December. Picket lines are from 7:30 and all are welcome to visit. Strikers were today visited by NUT Executive member Martin Powell-Davies and by local UCU secretary Sean Vernell as well as other local trades unionists.
