Dunchurch Infant School says no to academy.
Parents have recently received a letter informing them that the governors of the school have voted against the proposal to become an academy with REAch2 as its sponsor.
During a highly-charged meeting, parents demanded to know how becoming an academy would affect their school and the wider community.
Head teacher Iain Dewes stated that Warwickshire County Council had scaled back its school improvement team and that conversion to an academy could solve this problem. London-based REAch2 would take control of the school’s finances providing human resources, payroll, insurance and estate management services in partnership with Strictly Education.
The strength of opposition from parents has been a major factor in the decision not to proceed with the original proposal and proves quite clearly that if parents, teachers and governors stand together they can make a real difference.
