The 43 NUT members at ARK Globe Academy Elephant and Castle (the Obama Academy – the one he visited with Cameron) will be striking over compulsory redundancies. This is a resumption of earlier action.
The picket lines start at seven on Wed 22 May.
They have also announced a strike on Weds June 5th and Thurs June 6th.
Local secretary Michael Davern said:
Members are very frustrated and many feel that the process has not been conducted fairly. There is a feeling among many members that trade union activists have been particulary singled out by the process. Members are unhappy that the Academy managment do not seem willing to negotiate with the recognised unions in a constructive manner and they are taking strike action as a last resort.’
