Anti Academies Alliance supporters raise £600
PARENTS and governors from Roke Primary are mounting a legal challenge to fight the Government’s plans to handover the running of their school to the Harris Federation.
The Save Roke Parent Group started fundraising on Tuesday, and is working with pressure group the Anti-Academies Alliance to raise funds to pay lawyers’ fees. Within a day, they had already received enough donations to make legal instructions.
Roke campaigners believe they may have a case in law to challenge Education Secretary Michael Gove’s attempts to force them into becoming an academy, which they believe have gone beyond his powers by referring the state primary school to the Harris Federation.
This, they say, is because the Kenley school is not “failing” and they also have issues surrounding the legality of the consultation process.
