Parents, teachers and governors at Downhills Primary School, Tottenham have launched a campaign to prevent the DFE forcing the school to become a sponsored academy by September 2012.

One of the final tasks undertaken by the legitimate governing body was a parental ballot to gauge current views about academy status. The votes were counted on Friday 16th – 147 voted against, 14 for and 5 don’t knows.

The Save Downhills Campaign will be embarking on a Week of Action from Monday 9th January 2012, to coincide with the Secretary of State’s original deadline for our school to have passed a resolution to become an academy or be forced to convert.
