We are asking you to help defend our NUT Rep Simon O’Hara. Simon is a long standing teacher and the NUT Rep of Small Heath School, Birmingham.
Small Heath National Union of Teachers school teachers are taking 9 days of strike action from Tuesday 19th against their school being converted into an academy. Their action will also boost the campaign to win the reinstatement of their victimised NUT rep Simon O’Hara. They will be joined on Wednesday and Thursday of this week by teachers in the NASUWT and the ATL.
Please sign this important petition to stop academisation at Small Heath school and calling for an end to the victimisation of the NUT rep, Simon o’Hara who has been suspended after leading strike action.
The government needs to look very seriously at its future programme of academisation. Why continue with something that does not work?
If a school is deemed to be ‘failing’ then what should we do? The only answer is that the school must be academised, preferably by an academy chain with a ‘track record’, like Harris or Ark. So where would we imagine their academies would be in the league tables?
