Academy status via item in school paper….

I’m a long time opponent of academies and when my children’s school wanted to convert (Vardy and co wanted them) they people spoke and a local University/Academy group converted it to a community college. I wasn’t happy, but that was then.

Just ONE YEAR later – they are now trying to get Academy status in effect by the back door with the announcement in a school paper.

This won’t do – can you help?

Is there a timetable for the consultation?

We would suggest that you contact the Head or Governors and for a proper consultation process – ie that there is a meeting where both sides can put their arguments, and a consultation document where people can ragister their support or opposition.

If the school are not prepared to do this perhaps you could circulate a petition.

Letters to the local press always worry them.

If the school won’t call a meeting we could help you set one up with the help of the education unions.

Please let me know what you think.
