How much will change?

From rachael:

my daughters primary is going through consulation process for conversion to an acadamy. I’m worried that the information given by headteacher and governors is biased torwards conversion – but wont they be able to ignore parents even more than they do now? (there will still be 5 parent governors) and they say nothing will change except more ‘freedom’ to run the school better with increased funding too, but it seems risky to me.

There is no additional funding for academies, at least that is what the government claim. The question about what will change is more important. You need to look at our website to look at the many things that change. Academies are not covered by education law, they are businesses, and the business – trust – has a majority on the governing body. These are just some of the important changes.
